TESTIMONIALS

Our son began lessons with Ryan 5 years ago, after becoming bored and stagnant with his previous teacher of 2 years. With a child that was very talented and serious at pursuing a possible music career,we really wanted to make sure he had the best teacher for him that pushed him and challenged him but at the same time did it in a way that would encourage him, not discourage him.Because our son was easily bored,we also needed a teacher that could teach many different styles or genres, knew theory and could teach sight reading and was able to move at whatever pace was needed to challenge our son.Ryan worked on rock, blues jazz and classical guitar, sight reading ear training, song writing skills, improvisation only to name a few,but above all taught him to work hard and never give up.He helped him prepare for a very challenging audition to get into a very competitive music college, Belmont University. Ryan made sure that when the audition came up, our son was ever so confident when his audition time came up and was totally prepared in every possible way.Through the years, our son developed a strong sense of trust and friendship that he has been able to use as he is in college as a sophomore. While in college, our son will periodically still rely on Ryan for his professional views on different challenges. He also looks forward to breaks and summers to get together with Ryan and play, learn and get advice. It was never about Ryan making his fee,but about making sure our son was pushed during every lesson to the best of his abilities.Even if it meant staying over a few minutes or calling during the week to check and make sure he was able to work at the music homework he had given and was not frustrated. We highly recommend Ryan Strickland. He is a very professional dedicated musician that loves his job and will go over and beyond for all of his students. We feel as parents that Ryan pushed our son to help him fulfill his utmost dreams and passion and realize there are no limits.

I had been a self-taught "guitarist" for a "long" time (like 20+ years "long"). I reached the point where I really wasn't growing as a musician, and being a jazz/fusion aficionado...I wanted to. I decided to study with someone formally, and I interviewed several local candidates; Ryan was the clear choice for me, and I got a great vibe from our very first meeting. His depth of theoretical knowledge and the refinement of his technique was readily apparent, and he expressed genuine interest in my musical influences and goals. We developed a plan to go forward, and have been working together since.

I have been studying with Ryan for over three years now, and I can definitely say that I can come worlds farther than I ever could have without him. He is always pushing and challenging me, and he has always been responsive to my learning style. I am a teacher myself, so I really do value this and know how important it is. I look forward to our time together each week...just wish I could spend more than an hour per week!

If you're serious about taking your music to the next level or if you just want to see if the guitar might be for you...I don't think you'll find a more qualified guide for your musical journey.

Ryan is an excellent teacher. He has the knowledge and the "ear" to teach any song I want to learn. As an adult student of almost 4 yrs, he tailors songs to my level yet stays true to the chord progression of the song. He always encourages me to bring in new songs and to write a song of my own. So if you want to learn a few songs for the Holidays or some special occasion or a deep dive into music theory - Ryan's the guy!

Through my musical journey , I had trouble with finding a teacher that could keep me on my toes and continuously teach me new things every time I walked into their studio, that is until I met Ryan. Every time I went into his studio. I always learned something new. He taught me a ton of jazz theory and he taught me how to become familiar with the fretboard. Most important of all he taught me that there is always something to work on no matter how experienced you are.

I have been taking jazz music theory lessons with Ryan for 8 months and have thoroughly enjoyed it. Ryan is extremely knowledgeable and conversant in all forms of music. Ryan is an experienced teacher who works to a plan and knows how to push his students appropriately to help them realize their potential. Ryan is able to demonstrate everything he wants his students to learn, which is extremely helpful.
