Ryan Strickland Roswell guitar teacher holding and electric guitar in a music studio

Originally from Pittsburgh, PA, Ryan Strickland had a passion for music at a young age. He studied classical guitar at Georgia State University with John Sutherland and Dave Frackenpohl, the head of jazz guitar studies at GSU. In addition to studying at GSU, he has studied with Memphis guitar legend Shawn Lane and Jimmy Herring, of Aquarium Rescue Unit and Widespread Panic fame. Ryan has been teaching private and group guitar lessons for more than twenty years. His musical diversity allows him to teach a wide range of styles: rock, blues, jazz, country and classical music. He has performed all across the southeastern US with his own jazz and fusion projects, and been a sideman for a wide range of artists from the world music of the OGYA Band, from Ghana Africa , to the country/rock of the grammy award winning Zac Brown Band. Ryan is currently writing and recording music for his upcoming debut CD.

Hi, my name is Ryan Strickland. I have been teaching and performing professionally for over 20 years. I am currently teaching students of all ages, in Roswell, Alpharetta and Norcross GA. Over the years, I have taught beginners with no musical experience, to advanced players that have performed in many countries throughout the world! I always strive to customize your guitar lessons to you. I've had many students come to me, after they've "studied" with another teacher and I've been shocked at how they were taught and what they learned. I teach each individual student based on their interests. I play and have taught all kinds of styles: rock, blues, jazz, country, classical etc. I see myself as the sherpa leading you up the mountain of your own musical journey. If you want to learn songs, we'll do it! If you want to learn technique, we'll do it! If you want to learn the fretboard, scales, chords, arpeggios, intervals, functional harmony, tablature, standard notation, rhythmic concepts, improvisation, song writing, ear training etc. We'll do it! I look forward to helping you on your journey.
